Lobos Duke It Out With Aggies

ALPINE, Texas – The Sul Ross State University softball team (1-19 Lone Star Conference, 3-24) lost 2-1 and 8-1 to Cameron (9-13 LSC, 16-17), Sunday afternoon at Lobo Softball Field.

Game-1
Strong pitching and great defensive plays from both teams kept the game scoreless for the first four and one-half innings.

In the bottom of the fifth, sophomore Bryana Bostrom walked and move to second on an error.  After getting an out at first on a grounder, Cameron attempted to get Bostrom out at the third.

The throw sailed down the fence on the left side allowing Bostrom to score.  The Aggies scored twice in the seventh for a 2-1 lead.

In the bottom half, with two outs, sophomore Alexandra Ramos walked and moved to second on a  wild pitch.  CU got the next batter out to end the game.

For Sul Ross State, freshman Jaclyn Pate (0-9) gave up eight hits, two runs, walked one and stuck out three in seven innings.

For Cameron, Stormee Reed (8-5) struck out five in two innings.

Game-2
In the night cap, senior Elizabeth Clemente led off the fifth with a walk.  Following an out, Cameron made an error on a ball hit by freshman Arianna Medina.

When the dust cleared, Medina was at third and Clemente had scored.  The Aggies scored four runs in the sixth inning to seal the game.

For Sul Ross State, freshman Addison Castilleja (1-4) gave up nine hits, eight runs, walked five and struck out six in 6.7 innings.

For Cameron, Reed (9-5) gave up three hits, one run which was unearned, walked four and struck out 12 in seven innings.

Sul Ross State takes to the road, Sunday, Mar. 29 playing UT Dallas.  The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m.
