Dustdevils Edge Lobos in Saturday Doubleheader

Laredo, Texas – Sul Ross State University Baseball (1-12, LSC 1-12) continued its four-game Lone Star Conference series Saturday, falling in both games of a doubleheader to Texas A&M International University (6-7, LSC 6-7) at Jorge Haynes Field. The Dustdevils edged the Lobos 3-2 in extra innings in game two before securing a 4-3 victory in game three.

In game two, the Lobos and Dustdevils were locked in a scoreless battle through seven innings before the contest moved into extras. Sul Ross broke through with two runs in the eighth inning, highlighted by an RBI from Jayden Hernandez, who finished 1-for-4 at the plate. Max Wiggins also turned in a strong offensive performance, going 2-for-3 with a double as the Lobos totaled five hits in the tightly contested extra-inning matchup.

Game three saw Sul Ross rally late after falling behind early, plating runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings to keep the game within reach. Hernandez once again led the Lobos offensively with a hit and an RBI, while Joseph Binder added a hit and drove in a run as Sul Ross showed resilience down the stretch.

The Lobos and Dustdevils conclude the four-game Lone Star Conference series Sunday, Feb. 22, with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. at Jorge Haynes Field in Laredo, Texas.
