Alpine, Texas — Sul Ross State University Baseball (0–3, 0–3 LSC) closed its opening weekend series Sunday afternoon at Kokernot Field against St. Mary's University (3–0, 3–0 LSC). The Lobos continued to battle offensively but fell to the Rattlers by a final score of 22–9 in the series finale.
Sul Ross put together multiple scoring innings and was led offensively by Max Wiggins, Joseph Binder, and Jacob Binder. Wiggins turned in a strong performance at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs, while Joseph Binder went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Jacob Binder added a two-run home run as the Lobos continued to generate offense throughout the contest.
Sul Ross returns to the road next weekend for a three-game Lone Star Conference series against Lubbock Christian University in Lubbock, Texas. The series will be played at Hays Field and the City Bank Clubhouse, with first pitch set for Friday, February 6 at 3:00 PM, followed by a Saturday matchup on February 7 at 2:00 PM, and the series finale on Sunday, February 8 at 1:00 PM.
