Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lobos Halt The Flight Of The Falcons

ALPINE, Texas – It was good old fashioned soccer as the Sul Ross State University women's soccer team (2-8-2 Lone Star Conference, 2-10-3) beat The University of Texas Permian Basin (1-12 LSC, 4-12) 1-0, Wednesday afternoon at Lobo Soccer Field.  This is the first win over the Falcons in program history.

It was a display of solid defense and strong goalkeeping from Valeria Delgado (UT Permian Basin) and freshman Kat Graves.

At the 22:58 mark of the first half, senior Averi Culver launched a free kick from 35 yards out into the box.  Freshman Chase Bauer immediately passed to junior Melissa Chow who fired the ball into the twine.

In the second half, Delgado and Graves made several great saves to keep the score the way it was.

Sul Ross State had 12 shots with six on goal, four corner kicks and were called for nine fouls.  Graves ended up with five saves.

UT Permian Basin had 14 shots with five on goal, seven corner kicks and were called for six fouls.  Delgado finished with five saves.

Sul Ross State hits the road for the last time, Saturday, Oct. 24, taking on Texas A&M International.  The game is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.
