Alpine, Texas — Sul Ross State University Baseball (0–1, 0–1 LSC) opened the 2026 season Friday afternoon at Kokernot Field, hosting St. Mary's University (1–0, 1–0 LSC) in the first game of a three-game Lone Star Conference series. The Lobos dropped the series opener to the Rattlers by a final score of 16–7.

Alfonso Lopez delivered a strong performance at the plate throughout the contest, finishing 4-for-5 with four hits and three runs scored while consistently applying pressure on the St. Mary's defense.
