Lobos Gets Boxed In By Mustangs

SILVER CITY, New Mexico – Three players scored in double-figures as the Sul Ross State University men's basketball team (1-9 Lone Star Conference, 3-12) lost 69-51 to Western New Mexico (7-3 LSC, 13-4), Tuesday night at Drag's Court.

In the first half, Western New Mexico got out to a 16-4 lead after nine minutes.  The Mustangs led 34-23 at halftime.

In the second half, Sul Ross State came out of the gates like gangbusters.  Freshman Julien Barclay scored a tough bucket in the paint.

That closed out a 13-5 run to make it 39-36 at the 16:25 mark.  WNMU went on a 13-5 burst over the next five minutes to seal the game.

For Sul Ross State, Barclay had 16 points and two steals, junior Tim Mikhailov scored 12 points and junior Antwonne Holmes scored 11 points with two steals.

For Western New Mexico, Andre Harris scored 14 points.

Sul Ross State remains on the road, Saturday, Jan. 24 taking on UT Dallas.  The game is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
