Lobos Duel With Patriots

TYLER, Texas – The Sul Ross State University men's basketball team (0-7 Lone Star Conference, 2-10) lost 87-69 to UT Tyler (2-5 LSC, 8-5), Saturday afternoon at Herrington Patriot Center.

Sul Ross State and UT Tyler played the first half on even terms for the first 14 minutes.  Junior Ernests Locmelis dropped in a three-pointer from the rafters.

That tied the game at 24-24 at the 8:36 mark. Up 1 with six minutes to go, the Patriots went on a 13-4 run to take control.  The Lobos could get no closer than eight the rest of the way. 

The Lobos pulled down 31 defensive boards to just one offensive for UTT.

For Sul Ross State, junior Tim Mikhailov scored 18 points while juniors Keagan Moncrief and Kevon Zilaee had 10 points each.  Junior Camren Roper had a strong game with eight points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals.

For UT Tyler, Sean Emfinger had 23 points.

Sul Ross State is back home, Thursday, Jan. 15 taking on Oklahoma Christian.  The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
