Lobos See Mustangs Ride Past

SILVER CITY, N.M. – All the pistons were popping as The Sul Ross State University volleyball team (2-3) lost 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-21) to Western New Mexico (5-4), Thursday night at Drag's Court. 

In the first set, Western New Mexico jumped out to an 11-4 lead and never looked back.

In the second set, Sul Ross State forced an error to close the gap to 10-7.  The Mustangs reeled off a 6-2 run to take control.

In the third set, WNMU tried to put it away early storming out to a 15-7 advantage.  The Lobos refused to quit and began chipping away.

Freshman Danielle Senak notched an ace to tie the set at 19-19, ending a 12-4 run.  At 23-21, Western New Mexico got the next two points to end the match.

For Sul Ross State, senior Cassandra Espinoza had 13 digs while junior BreAnna Quarles picked up 11 digs.

For Western New Mexico, Daphne Posthumus had 15 kills.

Sul Ross State remains in Silver City, Friday, Sept. 19, taking on Eastern New Mexico.  The match is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m., Mountain Time, respectively.
