Lobos Storm From Behind To Halt Dustdevils

RICHARDSON, Texas – The Sul Ross State University men's soccer team (2-2-1) came from behind to tie Texas A&M International (2-0-3) 2-2, Thursday evening at UTD Soccer Field.  This was the first win or tie in program history against TAMI.

Defense was the name of the game in the first half as Sul Ross State and Texas A&M International combined to allow just six shots.  The Dustdevils managed to get one through at the 24:14 mark.

Just five minutes into the second half, TAMI scored again to go up 2-0.  Just 1:21 later, sophomore Diego Uribe took advantage of two great passes to put the ball past the keeper.

At the 69:55 mark, sophomore Jaime Martinez blew past the defenders and scored to make it 2-2.  With 7:44 left, freshman Sebastian Martinez had a goal robbed by a great save from the Dustdevil keeper.

Sul Ross State Head Coach Bailey Guffin
"Happy with the response to come back from 2-0. Disappointed not to come out with three points, but sometimes that's how the game goes.  We have a bigger test coming on Saturday, so we want to end this trip on a high."

Sul Ross State had nine shots with seven on goal, three corner kicks and were called for just four fouls.

Texas A&M International had seven shots with two on goal, three corner kicks and were called for 10 fouls.

Sul Ross State stays in Richardson, Saturday, Sept. 20, playing UT Dallas.  The game is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m.
