Lobos Continue to Build in Competitive Homestand

ALPINE, Texas – The Sul Ross State University women's soccer team dropped a close 1–0 decision to New Mexico Highlands Thursday, September 11, at 3:00 p.m. at Lobo Soccer Field.

The match remained scoreless deep into the second half as the Lobos battled through steady pressure and challenging conditions. Offensively, Sul Ross created several chances throughout the afternoon, finishing with 14 total shots, five of which were on target.

The breakthrough for the visitors came in the 85th minute, when New Mexico Highlands converted the game's lone goal to edge ahead late. Despite a final push in the closing minutes, the Lobos were unable to level the score.

Defensively, Sul Ross showed grit and resilience, with the back line and goalkeeper combining for six saves to keep the match within reach. The Lobos also matched the Cowgirls nearly evenly on corner kicks (4–5), reflecting the team's competitiveness across the stat sheet.
