Sul Rose State Watches Eagles Fly Away

OKLAHOMA CITY, Ok. – The Sul Ross State University softball team (2-14 Lone Star Conference, 5-20) lost 8-0 and 7-0 to #19 Oklahoma Christian (10-2 LSC, 17-7), Sunday at Tom Heath Field.

Game 1
In the second inning, the Lobos loaded the bases with one out.  The Eagles got the next two batters out to escape.  OCU scored six runs in the third inning to effectively end the game.

For Sul Ross State, junior Leanza Chambers (1-10) gave up six hits, six runs and walked three in 2.7 innings.

For Oklahoma Christian, Grace Andrson (9-2) threw a three-hitter with two walks and six strikeouts.

Game 2
SRSU came out swinging in the first inning.  A walk, hit and hit by pitch loaded the bases with one out.  Oklahoma Christian retired the next two batters.

The Eagles took a 2-0 lead after three innings, then scored four runs in the fourth to take control.

For Sul Ross State, senior Alyvia Quintana (1-6) gave up 11 hits, seven runs with five earned and walked one in six innings. 

For Oklahoma Christian, Jill Dickson (8-4) gave up two hits, walked three and struck out seven in five innings.

Sul Ross State returns home, Friday, Mar. 14 taking on #5 West Texas A&M.  The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m..
