Lobos Battle Tough Against Lady Buffs

ALPINE, Texas – The Sul Ross State University softball team (2-16 Lone Star Conference, 5-22) lost 12-1 and 7-0 to #3 West Texas A&M (16-2 LSC, 26-2), Thursday at Lobo Softball Field.

Game 1
The Lady Buffs scored eight runs in the first inning to effectively end the game.

For Sul Ross State, junior Leanza Chambers (1-11) gave up 15 hits, 12 runs, walked three and struck out one in four innings.

For West Texas A&M, Ashley Mandell (1-0) gave up three hits and one run in two innings.

Game 2
West Texas A&M scored three runs in the second inning.  In the third and fourth innings, The Lobos had a runner on with one out.  The Lady Buffs stopped then to hold on.

For Sul Ross State, senior Alyvia Quintana (1-7) gave up eight hits, seven runs with four earned, walked two and struck out two in seven innings. 

For West Texas A&M, Emilee Boyer (13-1) threw a three-hitter with eight strikeouts over seven innings.

Sul Ross State stays home, Saturday, Mar. 15 taking on Midwestern State.  The doubleheader is scheduled to start at noon.
