Lobos Knock Down Aggies

LAWTON, Okla. – The Sul Ross State University baseball team (3-33 Lone Star Conference, 4-33) came from behind to beat Cameron (9-23 LSC, 9-23) 5-3, Sunday afternoon at McCord Field.

Cameron drew first blood with a run in the first inning.  In the second inning, a walk and two singles loaded the bases.

Following an out, senior Estevan Ortiz hit a sacrifice fly that scored sophomore Rene Ramos.  The Aggies scored two runs in the bottom half to lead 3-1.

That remained the score until the eighth inning.  With two outs, fifth year player Primo Vasquez singled and stole second.  Ramos drew a walk and junior Joseph Binder cleared the bases with a triple.

That tied the game at 3-3.  In the ninth inning, the Lobos used three hits to score twice to make it 5-3.

Sophomore Austin Vara came in from the bull pen.  After the lead off batter got hit, SRSU turned a double play.

Cameron was not going to go quiet and managed to get the bases loaded.  Vara induced the batter to hit a high fly ball that was caught by the catcher to end the game.
