Lobos Falls To Javelinas

KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Sul Ross State University softball team (1-5 Lone Star Conference, 4-11) lost 8-0 and 10-0 to Texas A&M Kingsville (4-2 LSC, 9-8), Friday at Vernie and Blanche Hubert Field.

Game 1
The Javelinas scored four runs in the first inning to effectively end the game. 

For Sul Ross State, Leanza Chambers (0-6) gave up eight hits, eight runs with six earned, walked three and struck out two in four innings.

For Texas A&M Kingsville, Arianna Alaniz (3-2) threw a one-hitter with nine strikeouts over five innings.

Game 2
The Lobos had two runners on in each of the first two innings.  The Javelinas managed to hold SRSU off.

TAMUK lead 4-0 after three innings, then sealed the game with six runs in the fourth.

For Sul Ross State, sophomore Larryn Rooks (0-2) gave up eight hits, 10 runs with five earned and walked three in four innings. 

For Texas A&M Kingsville, Kristina Nash (3-3) gave up three hits and walked three in four innings.

Sul Ross State stays on the road, Sunday, Feb. 23, playing Texas A&M International.  The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 12:15 p.m..
