Sul Ross State Battles #1 Patriots

ALPINE, Texas – Junior Tori Owens had three hits as the Sul Ross State University softball team (1-3 Lone Star Conference, 4-9) lost 17-0 and 15-1 to #1 UT Tyler (4-0 LSC, 13-0), Sunday at Lobo Softball Field.

Game 1
UT Tyler scored a run in the first inning.  In the bottom half, freshman Alexandra Ramos and Owens singled with one out.  The Patriots got the next two batters out, then scored seven runs in the second inning to seal the game.

For Sul Ross State, Owens had two hits.  Junior Leanza Chambers (0-5) gave up 12 hits, 12 runs with 10 earned and struck out one in two innings.

For UT Tyler, Primrose Aholelei (6-0) gave up two hits and struck out six in three innings.

Game 2
UTT scored six runs in the first inning to take control.

For Sul Ross State, senior Alyvia Quintana (1-3) gave up 18 hits, 15 runs with 10 earned and walked two in five innings. 

For UT Tyler, Cera Blanchard (5-0) gave up two hits, one run and struck out four in three innings.

Sul Ross State takes to the road, Friday, Feb. 21, playing Texas A&M Kingsville.  The doubleheader is scheduled to start at noon.
