Lobos See Bronchos Ramble Away

ALPINE, Texas – The Sul Ross State University women's basketball team (1-8) lost 75-62 to Central Oklahoma (4-7), Saturday afternoon at the Pete P. Gallego Center.

For the first period, Sul Ross State and Central Oklahoma battled on even terms the whole way. There were seven lead changes and six ties.  Junior Leslie Mojica dropped one in from the beaches of Hawaii.  That put the Lobos up 21-18 as the period ended.

The second period was more of the same with four lead changes and five ties.  Freshman Breanna Morrison hit two free throws.

That tied the game at 35-35 with 1:57 left.  Over the next six minutes, UCO went on a 15-2 to effectively seal the game50-37

The Lobos were sizzling from 3-point rage hitting 50% while holding UCO to 28% from behind the arc.

For Sul Ross State, sophomore Sophiya Bustillos had 17 points while shooting 7-of-11 from the floor with three triples and Morrison added 12 points. Mojica  had eight points, six assists and four steals and senior Victoria Aguayo had eight points and 11 rebounds.

For Central Oklahoma, Jerney Bennett had 16 points with five blocks..

Sul Ross State returns home, Friday, Jan. 2 taking on Eastern New Mexico.  The game is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
