Lobos And Patriots Slug It Out

DALLAS, Texas – The Sul Ross State University men's soccer team (2-1-3 Lone Star Conference, 5-3-5) and Dallas Baptist (2-3-2 LSC, 5-5-3) fought to a 0-0 draw, Wednesday night at Patriot Soccer Field. 

Sul Ross State had two near misses in the final five minutes of the first half.  In the second half, sophomore Benjamin Aviles and DBU keeper each had an amazing save in the final 20 seconds.

Sul Ross State had 10 shots with four on goal, four corner kicks and were called for nine fouls.  This was the seventh shutout of the season breaking the record of six set in 2024.

Dallas Baptist had 15 shots with four on goal, five corner kicks and were called for 14 fouls.

"It's a really good response for our team tonight. We just have to start coming up in the big moments to win these types of games.  The guys came out and executed the game-plan almost to perfection. Now it's up to us to get back in the W column on Saturday."

Sul Ross State returns home for senior day, Saturday, Oct. 25, taking on UT Dallas.  The game is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
