Lobos Earn First Conference Win with Second-Half Comeback

ALPINE, Texas — Sul Ross State University Women's Soccer (2–10 overall, 1–7 LSC) rallied from a 2–0 halftime deficit to defeat Eastern New Mexico (0–11 overall, 0–8 LSC) 4–2 on Wednesday at Lobo Soccer Field.

The Lobos erupted for four second-half goals to complete a dominant comeback. Maria Barrientos opened the scoring in the 61st minute to swing the momentum in Sul Ross's favor. Kari Villatorro followed with two clutch goals, including the equalizer and a late strike in the closing minutes, while Kiersten Rowland delivered the go-ahead goal in the 82nd minute to put the Lobos ahead for good. The offensive surge marked one of the team's strongest halves of the season, showcasing resilience and determination on their home field.

"Today was a big day for our program as we secured our first conference win of the season. We started slow in the first half and allowed a couple of goals, but the way our girls responded in the second half says everything about their character and fight. Scoring four goals after the break shows the belief and resilience within this group. It was truly a team effort across the board, and I'm incredibly proud of how they battled back. We're going to use this momentum to continue building throughout the rest of the season," said Sul Ross State University Women's Head Soccer Coach John Dominguez.

Sul Ross returns to action October 18th, Saturday at 1 p.m., when the Lobos travel to face UT Tyler at the Citizens First Bank Perkins Soccer Complex in Tyler, Texas.
