ALPINE, Texas – Sul Ross State University women's soccer (1-8, 0-5 LSC) showed grit at home Wednesday afternoon, falling 2-0 to Angelo State (3-2-4, 2-1-2 LSC) in Lone Star Conference play at Lobo Soccer Field.
The Lobos were aggressive offensively in the first 25 minutes, creating moments of possession and pushing the ball into the attacking third. Their energy forced the opposition to stay organized defensively and highlighted the growth of the squad in conference action. Goalkeeper Emmy Finlinson once again provided a strong presence in net, turning in another double-digit effort with 12 saves to keep the match within reach. The back line also stepped up with stretches of steady play, cutting off runs and challenging shots in dangerous areas to keep Sul Ross in the game defensively.
Sul Ross now turns its focus to the road, aiming to build on its competitive stretches and translate effort into results against upcoming conference opponents. The Lobos return to action on Wednesday, October 8, at 7:30 p.m. when they visit St. Mary's (Texas) in San Antonio at Sigma Beta Chi Field.
