Lobos Sprint Away From Greyhounds

PORTALES, New Mexico – Senior Ethan Yancy broke a NCAA-era school record as the Sul Ross State University men's basketball team (1-9 Lone Star Conference, 2-13) beat Eastern New Mexico (5-5 LSC, 10-6) 110-101, Thursday night at Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena.  The win snapped an 11-game losing streak and was the first LSC win of the season.

For the first six minutes, Eastern New Mexico controlled the action.  Down 16-7 at the 14:12 mark, Sul Ross State decided to get the ball rolling.

Yancy dropped one in from the Rio Grande to put the Lobos up 24-22 with 10:55 to go.  That started a run of 11 straight points.  SRSU led by at least eight points the last nine minutes of the half.

The Greyhounds started the second half on an 8-4 run to close to 54-50 at the 17:51 mark.  Sul Ross State outscored ENMU 8-2 over the next two minutes.

That put the Lobos up 62-52 with 15:46 to go.  SRSU led by at least seven points all but two minutes the rest of the way.
