ABILENE, Texas — The Sul Ross State baseball team split the twin bill Saturday afternoon with the McMurry University War Hawks.
Sul Ross State won Game 2 by a score of 4-3 before dropping the third game 13-3 in seven innings at Walt Driggers Field.
>> GAME 2:
The Lobos went up 1-0 in the top of the first on an RBI single to left by
Peyten Kennard.
McMurry answered back with an RBI single of its own to tie the game in the bottom half of the first.
In the top of the fourth,
Corbin Dube scored on an error by the shortstop to put the Lobos on top 2-1.
Aaron Morales later scored during a first and third situation in the top of the fifth.
The War Hawks rallied for two runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie up the game at three-all.
Sul Ross State took the lead back in the top of the seventh when
Estevan Ortiz scored on an error by the third baseman.

- Morales went 2 for 3 with two singles.
- Carsen Thor had two singles to finish 2 for 3 with a walk.
- Kennard went 1 for 4 with a single while Dube tallied a double to also go 1 for 4.
- Christian Loveless notched his fourth win of the season after throwing two innings allowing two hits with two strikeouts.
>> GAME 3:
McMurry led 4-0 through three innings before it rallied for six runs in the fourth to extend its lead to 10-0.
The Lobos erased the shutout in the top of the fifth by scoring three runs. Thor had an RBI double to center while Ortiz hit an RBI single to highlight the inning.
McMurry scored twice more in the bottom of the fifth and once in the sixth to end the game early via the run rule.

- Alvaro Hernandez finished 2 for 3 with two singles.
- Thor and Kennard each went 1 for 3 with a double and a single, respectively.

- Ortiz went 1 for 4 with a single and an RBI.
