Six seniors —
Zack Gutierrez,
Dawson Beard,
Carsen Thor,
Orlando Moreno,
Peyten Kennard and
Derek Rojo — were all honored before the start of Game 3 on Saturday afternoon between the Sul Ross State baseball team and University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders.
The Lobos gave it their all, unfortunately the Crusaders came away with the 13-5 victory at Kokernot Field.
>> HOW IT HAPPENED:
UMHB sent 11 batters to the plate in the top of the first while it scattered six hits to take a 6-0 lead.
The Lobos cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the second.
Primo Vasquez had a leadoff double. Moreno was hit by a pitch while
Alvaro Hernandez drew a walk to load up the bases.
Brock Rodgers delivered a clutch bases-clearing double to make the score 6-3.
The Lobos managed to get within two runs during the bottom of the fourth after
Corbin Dube started the inning off with a single through the right side and then Moreno drew a walk.
Hernandez then hit an RBI single up the middle.
On a sacrifice fly, the Crusaders were able to push across a run to make the score 7-4 in the top of the fifth.
UMHB then began to pull away by scoring three runs in the top of the sixth. Riley Bender highlighted the inning with a two RBI double to left to extend the lead to 10-4.
Sul Ross State scored its final run of the game when Dube drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth.

- Hernandez finished 2 for 3 with two singles, a walk and an RBI.
- Rodgers went 1 for 3 with a double, a walk and three RBI.
- Estevan Ortiz had a triple to go 1 for 3 with a walk.
- Vasquez finished 1 for 5 with a double.
- Moreno reached base four times going 1 for 1 with a single, hit by pitch and two walks.
- Dube went 1 for 4 with a single, a walk and an RBI.
