TUCSON, Ariz. — The Sul Ross State softball team began the Tucson Invitational Games with a pair of wins on Tuesday afternoon at Lincoln Park.
In Game 1, the Lobos got a complete-game outing from
Leanza Chambers that resulted in a 4-1 win over Salve Regina.
Sul Ross State took the nightcap contest 6-3 over the University of Hartford.

The Lobos got on the board in the bottom of the first when
Lily Wiser hit an RBI single to center to drive in
Samantha Chavez.
Sul Ross State extended its lead to 3-0 in the third when
Kyndell Garcia stole home during a first and third situation.
Ciera Avila later hit an RBI single to left to bring in
Alisandria Garcia.
Chavez drove in
Kaitlynn Frakes on a ground out to second in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 4-0.
Salve Regina got its lone run on a solo home run in the top of the seventh.

- Chambers improved to 3-3 in the circle after she tallied three strikeouts and allowed nine hits.
- The Lobos had seven hits.
- Chavez, Kyndell Garcia, Adriana Hernandez, Avila and Frakes all went 1 for 3 with a single.
- Vivian Jimenez finished 1 for 2 with a single.
- Wiser went 1 for 1 with a single, an RBI and a walk.
- The Lobos had five stolen bases as Kyndell Garcia, Alisandria Garcia, Hernandez, Frakes and Jimenez all swiped a bag.

Sul Ross State scored early in the top of the first when
Madison Hodges hit an RBI single to left.
The Lobos rallied for two runs on two hits in the third when Avila hit an RBI double to left. Avila later scored on an error by the pitcher to make the score 3-0.
Chavez gave the Lobos a four-run lead when she drove in Jimenez with a double to left in the fourth.
Hartford erased the shutout in the bottom half of the fourth on a two RBI single.
The Lobos added a run in the fifth when
Janel Luna scored from third after
Samantha Bustos got in a pickle and was caught stealing.
In the top of the seventh,
Alisandria Garcia made the score 6-2 when she scored on a fielding error by the third baseman.
Hartford loaded up the bases in the bottom of the seventh.
It managed to score just one run on a sacrifice fly to center to cut the deficit to three.

- Chavez went 2 for 4 with a single, a double and an RBI.
- Hodges had two singles to go 2 for 3 with an RBI.
- Jimenez also went 2 for 3 with two singles.
- Toni Mishnick had a double to go 1 for 4.
- Bustos and Kyndell Garcia each went 1 for 4 with a single.
- Avila finished 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI.
- Erin Trevino earned her first win of the season after throwing six innings with three strikeouts.
- Loren Loveless picked up her second save after not allowing a single hit in one inning of relief.
