SAN ANTONIO, Texas — To wrap up the Saints Classic on Sunday afternoon, the Sul Ross State softball team played a competitive Game 3 against Texas A&M-San Antonio.
The Lobos rallied late but fell short, 5-4.
In Game 4 against Our Lady of the Lake University, Sul Ross State suffered a 9-1 loss in five innings.
>> GAME 3:
The Lobos trailed 5-0 after four.
Sul Ross State took advantage of two errors and a hit batter during the sixth to load up the bases.
Ciera Avila hit a two RBI double to right field to cut the deficit to three.
Kyndell Garcia then drove in
Madison Hodges with a sacrifice fly to left.
Samantha Bustos delivered a pinch-hit single to put runners at the corners. Avila was able to score after Bustos was caught stealing at second.
The Lobos had four hits in the inning as they left two runners stranded at first and second after two straight singles from
Vivian Jimenez and
Samantha Chavez.

- Chavez went 2 for 4 with a double and a single.
- Jimenez hit a pair of singles to go 2 for 3.
- Garcia hit a triple in the second to finish 1 for 3 with an RBI.
- Hodges and Avila each went 1 for 4 with a double.
- The Lobos tallied eight hits.

Sul Ross State was held to four hits.
Our Lady of the Lake led 5-0 after two innings of play.
The Lobos were scoreless until the top of the fifth when
Malia Williams-Sala delivered a pinch-hit single.
Chavez then hit a two-out RBI double to erase the shutout.

>> GAME NOTES:
- Chavez hit .333 during the weekend with four hits, three doubles and an RBI.
- Chavez finished 1 for 3 vs. Our Lady of the Lake.
- Lily Wiser went 1 for 2 with a single. She batted .364 during the weekend with four hits, a double, home run and an RBI.
- Garcia also went 1 for 2 with a single while Williams-Sala finished 1 for 1.
