BELTON, Texas — Down by 22 in the second half, the Sul Ross State men's basketball surmounted a comeback to get to within one point.
Unfortunately, the Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders edged out the Lobos, 80-77, Thursday night at the Mayborn Campus Center.

The Lobos scored six unanswered points to start the contest as
Tyler Jackson scored four points.
Mary Hardin-Baylor went off on a 24-0 run to take an 18-point lead at the 9:30 mark.
Behind a 9-2 run, Sul Ross State cut the deficit to 10 with 3:52 remaining.
Zyrin Brantley tallied four points while
Manny Flores knocked down a clutch three.
The Crusaders then went on a 9-3 run to extend their lead to 16 at the 1:24 mark.
Mary Hardin-Baylor led by as much as 22 points with 13:33 left in the second half.
Sul Ross State used a 10-0 run to cut the deficit down to 11.
Myles Amason started the rally with a dunk while
Gabe Sanchez made three free throws.
The Lobos landed four more free throws from Jackson and Sanchez to get to within nine with 5:31 on the clock.
Stepping up in the clutch, Sanchez and
Bryson Laird hit two 3-pointers to put the Lobos behind by five.
Brantley then made two free throws while Laird made a jumper in the paint off a dish by
Deveraux Minix to trail by one point with 40 seconds to go.
