PORTALES, N.M. — On Saturday afternoon, the Sul Ross State volleyball team suffered a sweep to the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds at the Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena.
>> HOW IT HAPPENED:
The opening set featured 16 lead changes.
Eastern New Mexico held a 7-5 lead early in the set before the lead changed hands nine times.
Sul Ross State went on a 3-0 run to take a 20-17 lead as
Cassandra Espinoza and
Edie Coleman had back-to-back kills.
The Greyhounds then flipped the script by going on a 5-0 run to take a 22-20 lead.
Sul Ross State took advantage of two attack errors, as the score was all tied up at 22-all.
There were three different led changes late in the game until Eastern New Mexico closed things out with a 2-0 run to take the set.
The Greyhounds began the second set on a 5-0 run before
Angelli Sanchez got the Lobos on the board with a kill.
Eastern New Mexico never trailed in the set as it led by seven points after stringing together a 3-0 run.
Sul Ross State pulled off a 6-0 run early in the third set to take a 12-10 lead. Espinoza and Coleman each tallied two kills during the big scoring spree.
The Greyhounds went ahead by one point using a 4-0 run before the Lobos tied up the score with a kill by
Anna Kasper.
Eastern New Mexico used a 6-0 run to pull away and secure the sweep.

- Espinoza and Natalie Hernandez each had nine kills. Espinoza also had 12 digs.
- Coleman finished with eight kills.
- Sanchez added to the offense with five kills.
- Eliana Mata tallied 21 assists and three digs.
- Brylee Sweeten had 10 assists and four digs.
- Miranda Acosta tallied 16 digs.
