MEN'S SOCCER: Lobos suffer loss to Patriots

The woes continue for the Sul Ross State men's soccer team.

Returning home for the first time in a little over two weeks, the Lobos were unable to find the back of the net, suffering a 4-0 loss to the Dallas Baptist Patriots on Wednesday afternoon at the Lobo Soccer Field.

>> HOW IT HAPPENED:

It was a tactical defensive match for the first 23 minutes until Dallas Baptist was able to notch the equalizer.

Peyton Voelker scored the first goal of the contest for the Patriots, coming in the 24th minute.

Four minutes later, Voelker found the back of the net once again, this time off an assist by Hunter Dierlam.

Leo Larson tallied the third goal in the 51st minute with an assist by Voelker.

The final goal of the match came in the 59th minute when Dominic Verdi scored with an assist from Mason Monroe.

>> GAME NOTES:
  • The Patriots had 12 shots (seven at the goal) while the Lobos had eight shots (four at the goal).
  • Lewis Coates had three shots, two coming at the goal.
  • Mario Hurtado finished with two shots, both came at the goal.
  • Benjamin Aviles made three saves to give him 32 for the season, the third-best mark in the Lone Star Conference.
  • After the hot start, the Lobos have been shutout in their last four matches.
