DENTON, Texas — On Saturday afternoon, the Sul Ross State volleyball team suffered a straight-set loss to the Texas Woman's University Pioneers at Kitty Magee Arena.
>> HOW IT HAPPENED:
After five lead changes in the opening set, Texas Woman's University went on a 7-0 run to pull away for the lead.
Later in the set, the Pioneers put together a 4-0 run to extend their lead to 11 points.
The second set featured eight different lead changes early on until the Pioneers used a 3-0 run to gain the lead.
A kill by
Sarah Chavez got the Lobos within two points, but Texas Woman's University went on another 3-0 run to lead by five points.
Sul Ross State gained a little bit of momentum, going on a 4-0 run to cut the deficit to one point.
Cassandra Espinoza and
Natalie Hernandez each had a kill during the run.
Texas Woman's University pulled away with a 4-0 run to take a five-point lead.
The Pioneers began the third set on a 9-0 run that helped them later gain an 11-point lead.
