MEN'S SOCCER: Lobos battle Greyhounds to scoreless draw

After going toe-to-toe with nationally ranked competition the last two matches, the Sul Ross State men's soccer team got a rematch with Eastern New Mexico.

Earlier in the season, the Lobos suffered a 2-0 loss on the road back on Sept. 28.

Sul Ross State battled and fought its way to a scoreless draw with the Greyhounds on Saturday afternoon at the Lobo Soccer Field.

This marks Sul Ross State's first scoreless draw since Oct. 7, 2023.

>> HOW IT HAPPENED:

It was a physical, gritty and tactical match.

The Lobos were narrowly out-shot four to three in the first half.

Benjamin Aviles made two saves in the opening half.

Sul Ross State had one shot on goal as Zachary Trimming fired off a shot in the 19th minute.

Tempers flared late in the second half as two cards were issued. SRSU's Angel Lugo received a red card just before time expired.

Down a man, playing with 10, the Lobos didn't let the adversity get to them in the second half.

Sul Ross State had some golden opportunities late in the second half, firing off four shots in the final three minutes.

The Lobos narrowly out-shot the Greyhounds in the second half, 8-7.

Aviles had four saves in the second half to keep the game scoreless.
