The Sul Ross State men's soccer team is trying to put together the first winning season in program history.
On Wednesday afternoon, the St. Edward's Hilltoppers stood in the way of getting closer to that goal.
Filled with plenty of physicality and hard-nosed play, the match went in favor of the Hilltoppers, 1-0, at the Lobo Soccer Field.
>> HOW IT HAPPENED:
It was a slow start for the Lobos as they did not attempt a shot in the first half.
The Hilltoppers had four shot attempts in the opening half.
Arthur Souza scored what proved to be the game-winner when he found the back of the net off an assist by Christian Mezas two and a half minutes into the match.
Sul Ross State found its rhythm in the second half, taking five shot attempts but the situations turned out to be unlucky.
>> RECORDS: St. Edward's (6-4-4, 4-1-3); Sul Ross State (6-8-1, 2-5-1)
