SAN ANGELO, Texas — Going up against the No. 1 defense in the Lone Star Conference, the Sul Ross State football team had its hands full with the Angelo State Rams.
On Saturday night, the Rams defeated the Lobos, 57-10, at LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field.
>> HOW IT HAPPENED:
Angelo State had a turnover on its opening drive on second-and-10 as
Kameron Dickerson recovered a fumble.
In five plays, the Lobos marched down to the Angelo State 24-yard line. A 58-yard pass from
Andrew Martinez to
Austin Ogunmakin got the Lobos into enemy territory.
The drive was capped off by a 41-yard field goal by
Carlos Arreola with 10:38 on the clock.
Angelo State had to punt away on its next drive on fourth-and-11.
Sul Ross State's offensive series was cut short as Eric Rascoe picked off Martinez for a 26-yard touchdown on an interception with seven minutes to go, giving Angelo State a 7-3 lead.
The Rams scored on their next series with an eight-play drive that resulted in a two-yard touchdown run by Cameron Dischler to end the first quarter.
Putting together a 12-play, 75-yard drive, the Lobos cut the deficit with a 23-yard touchdown pass from Martinez to
Yamil Oaxaca with 8:37 in the second quarter.
Angelo State scored 22 points in the second quarter as it scored on a four-yard run by Jayden Jones and a two-yard run by Dischler.
Braeden Fuller connected with Dischler for a 27-yard touchdown pass to make the score 36-10 with 1:37 to go in the first half.
Angelo State scored three more times in the second half with a one-yard run by Jones in the third quarter and a 38-yard touchdown pass from Kaeden Smith to Zeek Freeman as well as an eight-yard run by Canon Wiese.

- Martinez went 11 for 18 with 128 yards passing and one touchdown.
- Jordan Morales led the rushing attack with 10 carries for 31 yards.
- Ogunmakin led the receiving corps with two catches for 57 yards.
- Oaxaca had four catches for 31 yards while C.J. Parks caught three passes for 32 yards.
- Quincy Blair led the defense with 14 total tackles.
- Brendon Martin had eight total tackles.
- Angelo State had 548 yards of total offense while the Lobos were held to 173 yards.
