It was going to be a challenge Wednesday afternoon with the No. 11 Dallas Baptist University Patriots coming into town.
The Patriots extended their winning streak in Lone Star Conference play to 25 games by notching a 9-0 shutout over the Sul Ross State women's soccer team at the Lobo Soccer Field.
Dallas Baptist hasn't suffered a loss in league play since Oct. 1, 2022.
>> HOW IT HAPPENED:
McKenna Vela scored the first goal in the ninth minute with an assist from Annie Severide.
Vela tallied her second goal during the 19th minute with help from Emily Bates.
In the 20th minute, Anne Louthan made the score 3-0 with a goal that came off an assist from Vela.
Taylor Tufts then fired in a goal off a free kick in the 21st minute.
As the Patriots put in a new wave of subs, the offense did not skip a beat. Sophia Schrock found the back of the net in the 34th minute off an assist from Elise Borders.
Borders tallied the final goal of the first half off a free kick in the 37th minute.
Tufts scored her second of the match in the 51st minute with an assist by Vela.
Kaleigh Naizer then scored on a penalty kick in the 60th minute.
Schrock got the final goal of the contest in the 77th minute with an assist from Bates.
