CANYON, Texas — On Saturday afternoon, West Texas A&M scored often and early to defeat the Sul Ross State women's soccer team, 4-0, at The Pitch at Buffalo Sports Park.
>> HOW IT HAPPENED:
West Texas A&M scored three and a half minutes into the first half as Avery Putnam found the back of the net on an assist by Reagan Matacale.
Madison Stokes made the score 2-0 when she scored on a penalty kick in the fifth minute.
Putman scored once more in the 21st minute with an assist from Emily McGuire to give West Texas A&M a 3-0 lead at the half.
Putnam notched the hat trick with a goal in the 64th minute as Alexsis Villarreal had an assist on the play.
