RICHARDSON, Texas —
Emily Bunger scored a season-high 15 points, unfortunately the Sul Ross State women's basketball team fell to the University of Texas at Dallas Comets, 69-55, on Thursday night at the UTD Activity Center.
>> HOW IT HAPPENED:
Sul Ross State trailed 8-0 to start the opening quarter before Bunger made two free throws to get her team on the board.
The Lobos went on a 4-0 run to cut the deficit to three after
Victoria Aguayo and
Marley Rokas scored two buckets in the paint.
UT-Dallas extended its lead to 10 with a 7-0 run.
Sul Ross State got two layups from Bunger and
Ti'Miah Jackson-Allen to trail by seven at the end of the quarter.
At the 5:01 mark in the second quarter, the Comets led by 11.
The Lobos rallied by going on a 10-0 run that featured a clutch three by
Kayley Diaz and two points in the paint from Bunger and
Jema Padilla.
Sul Ross State trailed by one with 2:13 on the clock before the Comets used a 4-0 run to lead by five.
Bunger got the Lobos to within three after making a jumper with seven seconds to go in the first half.
UT-Dallas managed to score a layup as time expired to lead by five at the break.
The Comets held a 14-point lead with 2:25 to go in the third quarter.
Koda Beltran landed a jumper in the paint in the final 17 seconds to cut the deficit to 11.
UT-Dallas narrowly outscored the Lobos, 18-16, in the final quarter. The Comets held their largest of the game as they were up by 18 with 52 seconds left to go.

- Bunger matched her career-high of 15 points which was recorded on Jan. 26, 2023 against Hardin-Simmons.
- Bunger also played a season-high 34 minutes while she also made a season-high six field goals. She went a perfect 6 for 6 from the field with four rebounds and four assists.
- Rokas tallied her first double-double since Dec. 16 against Mary Hardin-Baylor. She had 14 points and 10 rebounds before fouling out in the second half.
- Padilla scored a season-high nine points.
- Aguayo added with four points, six assists, two steals and five rebounds.
- The Lobos grabbed 33 rebounds while shooting 18 for 26 from the free throw line.
- Sul Ross State scored 26 points off of turnovers.
