It was a monumental comeback for the Sul Ross State volleyball team.
Trailing 24-18 in the fourth set, the Lobos rallied back using an 8-0 run to defeat LeTourneau University in four sets on Saturday afternoon at the Pete P. Gallego Center.
>> HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Lobos got off to a hot start in the opening set, going on a 4-0 run.
LeTourneau cut the deficit to one point, but Sul Ross State went ahead with a 3-0 run that was highlighted by kills from
Daniella Garcia and
Cassandra Espinoza.
The Yellowjackets came back to tie the score at eight-all before Espinoza nailed two clutch kills to put the Lobos back out in front.
Just as the Lobos picked up momentum once again, LeTourneau flipped the tables by taking a 13-10 lead.
There were four more lead changes before the Lobos closed out the set on a 6-0 run to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Loren Garcia tallied the final two points with a pair of service aces.
The second set was filled with seven early lead changes.
Sul Ross State began to separate itself with a pair of 4-0 runs.
Sarah Chavez tallied three kills during the big rallies for the Lobos.
LeTourneau built up the suspense by cutting the deficit to two, but the Lobos were able to prevail as Espinoza got the kill to give her team the 2-0 advantage in the match.
In the third set, Sul Ross State trailed by four points before fighting back to trail by two points late in the set after a kill from
Edie Coleman.
But it was game of runs as the Yellowjackets went on a 3-0 spree to avoid the sweep.
This match had the build up to a possible fifth set the way things were looking during the fourth set.
Not so fast.
LeTourneau was a point away from evening things up, but the Lobos were resilient and refused to lose at home.
Taking advantage of some LeTourneau miscues down the stretch, the Lobos pulled off the comeback to take the victory.

- Tatyana Colon finished with 17 digs and seven assists.
- Espinoza has a team-best 99 kills in 38 sets played.
- Daniella Garcia ranks second on the team with 98 kills.
- Mata has a team-high 183 assists.
- Colon leads the defense with 141 digs.
