KERRVILLE — The Sul Ross State baseball team took on Schreiner University for a single non-conference game Wednesday afternoon at Bob Henry Field.
Schreiner overcame a four-run deficit to win, 8-5.
>> HOW IT HAPPENED:
Trailing 1-0 after one inning, the Lobos rallied for four runs in the top of the second.
Jared Roiz got Sul Ross on the board with an RBI single while
Christopher Ulloa later delivered a clutch two-RBI single.
Christian Garibay topped off the rally by scoring on a balk.
The Lobos tacked on one more run in the top of the fourth with an RBI single by Garibay.
Schreiner then used four hits to score five runs, which made the score 6-5.
Sul Ross finished with six hits.
Ulloa went 1 for 3 while Garibay drew a walk to go 1 for 4 with a single.
Sterling Inman tallied a single to finish 1 for 4.
Alvaro Hernandez also hit a single to end up going 1 for 2 with a walk.
Corbin Dube had a triple and a walk to go 1 for 2 with two runs scored. Roiz went 1 for 3 with a run scored and a walk.
Jacob Salinas started the game throwing two innings allowing one hit and one earned run.
Dean Foley came in for relief as he allowed two hits and two earned runs in one inning.
A.J. Lear threw 2.1 innings with two strikeouts.
Colby Nunn,
Zack Gutierrez and
Dorian Acosta also made relief appearances. The trio fanned three batters and allowed two hits.
