LONGVIEW — The Sul Ross State baseball team swept the LeTourneau Yellowjackets by notching two wins by the scores of 4-3 and 8-3 on Saturday evening at Conrad-Vernon Field.
>> GAME 2:
Gage Cobb threw a two-hitter with eight strikeouts while he walked only one batter.
The Lobos strung together 10 hits.
Sul Ross trailed 2-0 heading into the top of the fourth where the Lobos tied up the game with an RBI double by
Carsen Thor and an RBI ground out by
Tye Lindsey.
LeTourneau took a one-run lead in the bottom of the sixth.
The Lobos rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh to secure the victory.
Primo Vasquez hit an RBI single while
Orlando Moreno came into the clutch with an RBI double to right.
Thor finished 3 for 3 with two singles, a double and an RBI while Vasquez went 2 for 4 with two singles and an RBI.
Estevan Ortiz tallied two doubles and a single to go 3 for 3.
Matthew Wheeler hit a single to finish 1 for 3.
Connor Archer improved his record to 1-1 after he went 2/3 of an inning not allowing a single hit or run.
Ian Craigie picked up his first save as he faced three batters in 2/3 of an inning.

The Lobo offense continued to stay hot into the series finale.
Sul Ross out hit LeTourneau 11-8.
Trailing 1-0, the Lobos rallied for three runs in the top of the fourth. Thor and Lindsey delivered back-to-back RBI singles while
Peyten Kennard drove in Lindsey with an RBI single to center.
LeTourneau cut the deficit to one in the bottom half of the fourth and then tied the game in the sixth.
The Lobos put up five runs in the top of the seventh to pull away for the victory.
Sul Ross began the rally with a bunt single by Lindsey that resulted in a throwing error by the third baseman that allowed
Tristan Karels to score.
Aaron Morales then drew a bases-loaded walk and then Kennard drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to right.
Ortiz later pushed across two runs on a sacrifice bunt to third.
Moreno and Lindsey each went 2 for 5. Lindsey had two singles and an RBI while Moreno tallied a single and a double.
Karels finished 2 for 4 with a pair of singles and a walk. Morales hit two singles to go 2 for 4 with an RBI and a walk.
In five innings of work,
Dawson Beard struck out five batters while allowing one earned run and five hits.
Derek Rojo picked up his first win of the season as he faced four batters in one inning.
Jacob Salinas and
Brad Ansley relieved for the final two innings. The duo allowed two hits while not allowing a single run.
