BASEBALL: Sul Ross wraps up Tucson Invitational going 3-1

Aaron Morales hits an inside-the-park home run against Macalester

TUCSON, Ariz. — The Sul Ross State baseball team wrapped up the Tucson Invitational going 3-1.

On Sunday afternoon, the Lobos suffered a 14-4 loss to Macalester College in seven innings at the Kino Sports Complex.

The Lobos went up 2-0 in the top of the second. Aaron Morales hit an inside-the-park home run to center field.

Ricardo Franco then delivered an RBI single.

On four hits, Macalester took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the third.

In the top of the fifth, Morales kept up his hot streak at the plate by hitting an RBI triple to right to drive in Tye Lindsey.

Alvaro Hernandez later hit an RBI single to right center to bring in Morales to make the score 4-3 in favor of the Lobos.

Macalester then got hot on offense by scoring 11 runs in the final three innings combined to come away with the victory.

Morales finished 2 for 4 at the plate with two RBI while Franco went 2 for 4 with a single, double and an RBI.

Hernandez went 1 for 3 with an RBI and a walk. Lindsey had a single, two stolen bases and a walk to go 1 for 2.

Jared Roiz reached base twice on a pair of walks.

The Lobos tallied six hits.

Jacob Salinas started on the mound for Sul Ross, going 2.2 innings allowing three hits and three earned runs while he struck out two batters.

Dean Foley then came in for relief, throwing 1.2 innings allowing three earned runs on one hit with one strikeout.

Brad Ansley, Christian Loveless and Logan Hersom came out of the bullpen to relieve. Ansley struck out two batters in 1 1/3 innings pitched.

Loveless and Hersom each pitched a 1/3 of an inning.
