After a rough outing on Friday against No. 24 ranked East Texas Baptist, the Sul Ross State baseball team fought until the very end in Game 3.
With runners on first and second, the Lobos were brewing up a possible rally that ended with a triple play turned by the Tiger defense.
The Lobos fell short, 15-11, on Saturday afternoon at Kokernot Field.
"We did a great job of just fighting. That shows the teams resilience, how bad they want to be good," said Sul Ross head coach
Ely Gallego. "Right now, things aren't going our way. We haven't put all aspects of this game together."
>> GAME 3:
Right after the Tigers scored three runs in the top of the first, the Lobos answered back with a three-spot of their own by tying the game in the bottom half of the first.
Carsen Thor hit an RBI single to left while

East Texas Baptist scored three more runs in the top of the second. Sul Ross then cut the deficit to two on an RBI double by
Jared Roiz in the bottom of the second.
The Tigers retaliated with three more runs to make the score 9-4 in the third.
Orlando Moreno delivered a clutch three-run home run to get Sul Ross back to within two.

The Tigers put up four runs in the top of the eighth.
Sul Ross trailed 15-10 until
Tye Lindsey hit an RBI double to keep the Lobos within reach with a four-run deficit in the bottom of the ninth.
The Lobos had 16 hits.
Roiz went 4 for 6 with three singles, a double and an RBI while Saenz finished 2 for 4 with two singles.
Lindsey tallied a single, double, two walks and an RBI to go 2 for 3.
Wheeler was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle as he went 3 for 5 with a single, double, home run and two RBI.
Aaron Morales ended up going 1 for 4 with a single and a walk while Moreno finished 1 for 5.
Dawson Beard went 1.2 innings allowing seven hits.
Cade Watson relieved for the next 3.1 innings as he gave up four hits and struck out two batters.
Aidan Mow held the Tigers to two hits in two innings of relief.
Connor Archer and
Ian Craigie combined to strikeout two batters. Craigie allowed one hit in 1.1 innings.
"We have the opportunity to be really good. These guys have to start believing it and not letting our record dictate who we are," Gallego added. "Our offense continually answered. They kept it within striking distance. It's just an unfortunate situation where we roll into a triple play."
