BELTON, Texas — The Sul Ross State volleyball team suffered a sweep to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders on Saturday afternoon at the Mayborn Campus Center.
>> HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Crusaders used a 9-0 run early in the contest to take a commanding 13-2 lead.
UMHB did not trail at any point during the first set as it won, 25-7.
The second set was much closer at the beginning.
There were six different lead changes.
Sul Ross State went on an early 3-0 run to lead 6-3.
Eliana Mata highlighted the run with a service ace.
UMHB answered back with a 3-0 run of its own to tie the score.
The Lobos regained the lead at 7-6 with a kill from
Cassandra Espinoza, but the score was tied twice more.
UMHB used a 7-1 run to lead by six. From that point on, the Crusaders never trailed as they closed out the set with a 4-0 run to win 25-16.
The third set began with two early lead changes before the Crusaders pulled away to take the 25-14 set victory.
