MARSHALL, Texas — It was a rematch against one of the top two volleyball teams in the American Southwest Conference.
The East Texas Baptist University Tigers came away with the sweep of the Sul Ross State Lobos, 25-13, 25-13, 25-15, Saturday afternoon at Ornelas Gymnasium.
>> HOW IT HAPPENED:
In the opening set, the Lobos fared well early on as they trailed by one-point.
Edie Coleman and
Emily Priddy teamed up for a block while Coleman had a kill to keep the score close.
East Texas Baptist used a 6-0 run to pull away with a seven-point lead. The Tigers closed out the set with a 5-0 run.
The Tigers broke a 1-1 tie early in the second set using a 6-0 run.
Leading by as much as 12, East Texas Baptist took the second set.
There were two early lead changes in the third and final set as the Lobos tied up the score at four-all with a kill from
Sarah Chavez.
East Texas Baptist went on an 8-0 run to take a 12-4 lead. The Lobos managed to cut the deficit to four, but the Tigers went on a 3-0 run to increase their lead to seven.
