MEN'S SOCCER: Lobos played LeTourneau in season finale

It was the final game of the season for the Sul Ross State men's soccer team on Saturday afternoon at the Lobo Soccer Field.

Ryan Seidon, Jacob Garza, Jair Moreno and Antonio Lozano were all honored before the start of the contest during the senior day festivities.

The Lobos fought hard but came up short, 2-1, to the LeTourneau University Yellowjackets.

>> HOW IT HAPPENED:

LeTourneau scored in the 14th minute of the opening half when Syed Zain found the back of the net with an assist from Caleb Bransford.

Andrew Magana tied up the match during the second half in the 50th minute with a goal.

The Yellowjackets took the lead in the 79th minute when Zach Aitken scored.

>> RECORDS: Sul Ross State (1-10-5); LeTourneau (6-5-5)

>> GAME NOTES:
  • The Lobos scored 15 goals this season compared to just eight in 2022.
  • Sul Ross State also had five draws compared to four in 2022.
  • Against LeTourneau, the Lobos had more shots with 17, and more shots on goal with eight.
  • Pablo Herrera had three shots and two shots on goal.
  • Moreno tallied two shots.
  • Cristobal Rodriguez added with three shots and one shot on goal.
  • Justin Quinonez finished with five shots and two shots on goal.
  • Jose Rangel made five saves. Rangel finishes the year with 76 saves.
  • Rangel broke the school record for saves which was 74 set by Frank Rodriguez in 2019.
  • Angel Lugo, Herrera and Rodriguez finished tied for the team lead in goals with three.
