Back at home for the first time in three weeks, the Sul Ross State football team took on 20th ranked Hardin-Simmons University.
The Cowboys used 506 total yards of offense to defeat the Lobos, 55-7, on Saturday afternoon at Jackson Field.
>> HOW IT HAPPENED:
Hardin-Simmons scored on its first offensive series on a 54-yard touchdown run by
Noah Garcia with 13:52 on the clock.
The Lobos went three-and-out on their first series, but the Sul Ross State defense forced the Cowboys to punt after a sack by
Dayln Dunbar.
Sul Ross State wasn't able to muster up any points as it failed to convert on fourth-and-nine.
The score remained 7-0 until the Cowboys extended their lead to 13-0 after the two-yard touchdown run by Colton Marshall and the missed point after attempt with 14:56 in the second quarter.
A turnover then plagued the Lobo offense as the Cowboys recovered a fumble to set up a 15-yard touchdown run by Garcia.
Hardin-Simmons had a 41-0 lead at the half.
Sul Ross State erased the shutout with a nine-play, 70-yard drive that was capped off with a five-yard touchdown run by
Rodd Hudson III with 10:34 to go in the fourth quarter.

- The Lobos used four different quarterbacks.
- Andrew Martinez completed 9 of 16 passes for 56 yards while he rushed for 35 yards on eight carries.
- Travell Lumpkin led the rushing attack with seven carries for 45 yards.
- Vicente Luevano had two catches for 24 yards.
- Darrion Brown led the Lobo defense with 11 total tackles, 0.5 tackle for loss and 0.5 sacks.
- Evian Thompson had four pass breakups and five total tackles.
- Dunbar finished with two sacks, two tackles for loss and five total tackles.
