LA VERNE, Calif. — On the final day of the Pacific Coast Classic, the Sul Ross volleyball team split against their competition Saturday evening.

The Lobos had trailed by as much as five points in the opening set before surmounting a comeback and overcoming four ties in the score to win 26-24.
Sul Ross began the second game with a 5-0 run before Whitman tied up the set at six-all. The Lobos tied things up three times down the stretch but they couldn't finish on top.
With the match tied, Sul Ross overcame a 3-1 deficit to eventually lead 14-9 after a pair of kills by
Annika Canaba.
Sul Ross led by as much as seven in the third set.
The Lobos jumped out to an 11-point lead in the final set. A kill down the stretch by
Taryn Griner made the score 21-9.
Sul Ross was in control as it took the set 25-17 to win in four.
Griner led the offense with 15 kills while Canaba added 14.
Daniella Garcia chipped in with eight kills. Canaba also tallied 18 assists.
Kamrynn Caruth finished with 23 assists, five service aces and nine digs.
Faith Herrera tallied 13 digs while
Cassandra Espinoza had 10.

In the final match, the Lobos had a competitive first set with the University of La Verne. There were 10 different lead changes until La Verne got two clutch service aces to pull away late in the set.
Canaba had 10 kills while Garcia finished with six.
Victoria Flores and Griner each chipped in with five kills.
Caruth recorded 17 assists while Herrera had 13 digs.
