CLEVELAND, Mississippi - Softball's season came to an end in the second round of the ASC Tournament after a pitcher's duel resulted in a 2-1 loss to Hardin-Simmons.
"I'm so proud of this team," said head coach Troy Canaba. "We just came up a little short today. We played well and I love this team!"
Scoreless entering the fifth, the Cowgirls scratched across a pair of runs for a 2-0 lead after five.
Nadia Valverde launched a solo home run to left field with one out in the sixth to cut it to 2-1. The Lobos got runners and first and second with two outs but were held scoreless the rest of way in the 2-1 loss.
Jodie Vaughn went all six innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out three.
Camryn Hardin led the game with three hits out of the leadoff spot.
The Lobos finish their season at 23-19 (15-15 ASC). 23 wins is a new program record.
