ALPINE, Texas - Baseball concluded the home portion of their season Saturday, falling 6-1 to Mary Hardin-Baylor on senior day.
Sam Russell,
Isaac Gallego and
Jorge Marquez were honored before first pitch.
"I think we find a way to win 1-0 without the errors," said head coach
Bobby Mesker. "Our pitchers did a great job competing in the zone and they all did their duty. I just felt position players on both sides were tired from a long Friday. Their lefty threw well today. He stay consistent with his approach to our right-handed hitters and we just never made the adjustments needed."
Logan Hersom pitched a pair of scoreless innings as the starter before being relieved by
Isaac Gallego. Gallego then threw a scoreless third for a 0-0 score going top 4.
UMHB added three runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth for a 5-0 lead.
Carsen Thor got the Lobos on the board after scoring on the passed ball in the fifth.
The Crusaders added another in the seventh and took the 6-1 advantage to the bottom of the ninth.
With one out,
Tristan Karels broke up a no-hitter. The Lobos were able to get Thor on base via a walk, but Sully soon fell 6-1.
Hersom, Gallego and
Ian Craigie pitched a combined five-hitter with six unearned runs given up.
