JACKSON, Mississippi - After a sequence of delays and relocations, softball fell 5-0 on Friday to #19 Belhaven.
"It was a tough game," said head coach
Troy Canaba. "Belhaven is a great team and deserves a lot of credit. We have to be more aggressive, focus and have fun. At the end of the day, we get to play softball and represent Sul Ross State University. It doesn't get better than that!"
Belhaven opened things up with four runs in the second a 4-0 lead. They tacked on another in the third for a 5-0 lead that went final.
Danielle Gomez got the start on the bump, allowing three earned runs.
Rebecca Rodriguez went the final inning, allowing no runs.
Sul Ross now sits 11-9 (4-6 ASC). Belhaven moves to 16-1 (9-1 ASC).
Due to weather on Friday, the Lobos will finish the series on Saturday with a doubleheader at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. in Jackson.
