Wilson previously spent time at Navarro College as assistant head coach and offensive coordinator. He coached and developed 11 NCAA Division I players. In his first season as the offensive coordinator, Navarro ranked #1 in the country in total offense, yards per game and passing offense.

During his first season at Navarro in 2017 as the running backs coach, his group of backs were fifth in the NJCAA in total offense. They were led by First Team All-Conference and All-American Honorable Mention DeAndre Cook, who finished with 1000+ rushing yards and 14 touchdowns.

Wilson has coached at the Air It Out Passing Academy for over four years. He has been able to coach many of Texas' top high school quarterbacks including standout quarterback Alan Bowman, formerly of Texas Tech and now at the University of Michigan.

Familiar with the ASC, Wilson spent three seasons as a graduate assistant and student assistant (2014-17) at Howard Payne University, working with running backs, wide receivers and quarterbacks.

"I'm very grateful to have Coach Wilson join our staff," said Derickson. "Offensively he is one of the best and knows the brand of explosive offense we want to expand on. He has been on many dynamic offenses and we're excited he's here!"

Clegg enters after spending 2019-2021 with McMurry as defensive line coach and run game coordinator.

While at McMurry, Clegg coached an all-conference defensive tackle, numerous players recognized as the ASC Players of the Week, as well as the DIII National Team of the Week.

A graduate of Howard Payne, Clegg returned to HPU as a graduate assistant, working with the defensive line from 2015-2016 and coaching an ASC second team all-conference defensive end.

Clegg also spent time at San Diego Mesa College, coaching the defensive line, outside linebackers, and was the defensive run game coordinator. While at Mesa, Clegg was a part of a bowl championship, the first one the school had since 2003. They were also the second ranked defense in California Junior College.

"Coach Clegg has done a tremendous job in recruiting for us thus far and knows how to get stuff done," said Derickson. "He has a lot of experience in this league and brings on knowledge of the run fits."

Richard Embry - Linebackers Coach/Special Teams Coordinator

Embry most recently coach linebackers are Northeastern Oklahoma State in 2021.

He served as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Green Oaks High School in Shreveport LA in 2017 and 2020.

Previous stops include defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at A Plus Academy High School from 2015-2016, and linebackers coach at Southwestern Assemblies of God from 2012-2014. SAGU is also Embry's alma mater.

"We are extremely fortunate to add Coach Embry on staff," said Derickson. "He adds a lot of experience we definitely needed. He knows not only the linebacker position in a master sense but also has done a spectacular job taking on roles as recruiting coordinator and special teams coordinator. He attacks everyday and cares about the kids!"

Genard Sims - Wide Receivers Coach/Passing Game Coordinator

Sims previously served as wide receivers coach for Valdosta State University in 2021. The Blazers totaled over 3,000 yards and 30 receiving touchdowns. He coached two all-american receivers with over 1,000 yards each.

Prior to Valdosta, Sims was the wide receivers coach and return specialist at Virginia State University

Sims has also served as a coaching assistant at Florida A&M, and a recruiting/wide receiver coaching assistant at Florida International, also his alma mater.

He was mentored by Dave Scott, recruiting coordinator for Jimmy Johnson and Dennis Erickson at the University of Miami during their championship years of 1987, 1989, 1991, and 2001.

"We are very excited and fortunate to add Coach Sims to our staff," said Derickson. "He was just on a national championship run at Valdosta in the very offense we are running. His attention to detail and passion in the wide receiver room and the passing game is what we needed here at Sul Ross."

Bryce Saracene has been elevated to co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach.

Saracene previously served as quarterbacks/receivers coach and passing game coordinator upon being hired in 2021.

"Coach Saracene is a great teacher and mentor to the men," said Derickson. "He is also an alumni and a ball coach that has the winner's mentality. If I go into battle I will always want Coach Saracene by my side."
