ABILENE, Texas - Men's hoops fell 93-78 to Hardin-Simmons as five Lobos scored in double digits on Thursday night in Abilene.
First Half
Logan Dixon opened the half with a layup before
Omar Ibarra added a free throw for a 3-0 lead. Another Dixon layup later upped it to 5-2. HSU eventually took a 9-5 lead, but two free throws from
Trey Nelson and a
Gabe Sanchez layup tied it at 9-9. The Cowboys then went on a 4-0 run before four free throws from Dixon made it 13-13. HSU scored the next six for a 19-13 lead. Sanchez then came back with a layup, was fouled, and hit the free throw cut it to three with 6:55 remaining. The Cowboys finished the half outscoring the Lobos 26-15 to take a 45-31 advantage to the half.
Second Half
Sully's second half was more even with the Cowboys, never trailing by more than 20 and cutting it to 13 four times.
Caelyb Kerley did it early with a triple before Dixon did it twice more on a free throw and later a layup. The final time came in the final two minutes on a
CJ Jemison triple in what eventually resulted in a 93-78 loss.
Stats
Nelson led the Lobos with 15 points and tied a game-high two steals.
Dixon scored 14 and matched a team-high four rebounds.
Sanchez added 12 points and a team-high four assists.
Both
Julian Paredes and Jemison scored 11 points.
The Lobos fall to 9-15 and 6-13 in conference. Hardin-Simmons moves to 15-7 and 11-6.
Sully finishes the regular season in Abilene on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. against McMurry.
