MEN'S BASKETBALL: Sul Ross drops to Concordia on the road

Julian Paredes leads the way with 15 points

AUSTIN — The Sul Ross State men's basketball team suffered its third loss in the last four games.

On Monday afternoon, the Lobos fell to Concordia, 86-76, at the Concordia Fieldhouse.

The Tornadoes started off on a 5-0 run before Luke Pluymen hit a three-pointer with 17:41 on the clock.

Concordia led by as much as nine.

Sul Ross began to chisel the deficit after a jumper by Caelyb Kerley and five quick points from Larry Morrison as the score was 16-15.

On the fast break, Trey Nelson hit a jumper after a steal by Kerley to tie the game at 18-all with 10:28 remaining.

Concordia used a 6-0 run to pull ahead for the lead. The Tornado offense was able to surge to a 16-point lead.

Vince Peralez made a shot in the paint to cut the deficit down to five with 2:54 left until halftime, but the Tornadoes were able to gain an eight-point lead at the break.

The Lobos trailed by as little as four points with 12:23 in the second half.

Concordia never trailed as it ended up going ahead by 15 to eventually take the victory.

Paredes led the way with 15 points, four rebounds and four assists while Morrison added with 12 points.

Pluymen finished with 11 points.

The Lobos were out-rebounded 42-34. Sul Ross grabbed 28 rebounds on the defensive end.

Sul Ross made eight 3-pointers as Pluymen landed three. Sul Ross also shot 8 of 13 from the charity stripe and 51.7 percent from the field.
